Taylor’s training professional training journey began 10 years ago where she apprenticed for three years under different trainers, including two years apprenticing with Nino at K9 Academy International, where she accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge. She has been with K9AI for 8 years now and is our manager and lead trainer, she is well known by clients for her love for each dog and how she connects with every dog that comes through our doors.
During her time with us she had made numerous accomplishments including training Service dogs for a variety of tasks, narcotics detection, personal protection dogs and sport dogs. Having titled multiple dogs in different sport venues including dock diving, AKC, IGP, WDA, PSA, narcotics and Search and Rescue. She currently trains in PSA with her German Shepherds and is also a certified AKC instructor.
When it comes to training Taylors philosophy, is that putting a bandage over the behavior will not fix it, she wants to fix the dog’s mind to truly fix the problem, whether it’s as simple as jumping or more problematic separation anxiety or aggression. She believes in using all four quadrants of dog training with an emphasis on positive reinforcement, luring and shaping of behaviors. Her goal with every dog is to produce a high level of obedience but beyond that to ensure your dog can be the best family member they can be.
